Get your staff on board:

Begin by getting your whole staff on board with the Freelanthropy program...

1. Inform your staff about your new fundraising partnership with Freelanthropy and explain to them how the system works and have them download the toolbar onto their computers.

2. Encourage your staff to always conduct their Internet searches through your customized toolbar.  This will help them to get in the habit of always searching in this manner.

3. Encourage your staff to do all of their online shopping through the “shop and give” links.  There are hundreds of merchants to choose from and money is generated for your organization with each purchase.

4. Have your staff create a customized signature for all of their out-going e-mails that includes your organizations customized logo with a simple message like “raise money for our organization every time you conduct an Internet search with Freelanthropy.com.”

5. Ask each staff member to send out an e-mail message to all of their contacts about your new partnership with Freelanthropy describing how it works and how they can help.

For your website:

When you receive your customized toolbar…

1. Provide a link on your website to your supporters to download your customized toolbar.  Explain that this toolbar will help them to stay connected and informed about your organization while raising money, everyday!

2. Add customized search boxes to your website.  This allows your supporters who might not want to download your toolbar on to their computer to still help you raise money because they can just conduct their Internet searches from your website.

3. Add customized banners to your website.  This is a visible reminder to your supporters to use the Freelanthropy fundraising system to help your organization.

4. If your organization has a newsletter, write an article about your new partnership with Freelanthropy including how the system works and how they can help.  See sample newsletter.

Get the word out!

One of the most important things is to get the word out about your new fundraising system to as many people as you can.  The revenues will grow bigger and faster with more people searching, everyday!

1. First, follow the steps above about getting your staff on board.

2. Make sure you also send the Freelanthropy fundraising partnership information to all of your contacts.

3. Tell your supporters of the many options for how they can help.

     a. Tell them to install your toolbar onto their computers because it offers many helpful features.

The toolbar’s benefits include keeping your supporters informed, having your unique logo with a search box on their computers as a constant reminder to search, every day, it also provides easy, accessible, customized links, and a customized “real-time” news ticker, and “shop and give” links to hundreds of merchants.

     b. Or ask them to conduct all of their Internet searches from your website search boxes.

This allows your supporters to simply search and raise money for you, they don't need to select your organization, because they are already searching from your specific site.

     c. Or search from the www.freelanthropy.com website after they have selected your organization  from the charity finder.

    d. Ask them to do all of their online purchases through the “shop and give” link because revenue is raised for your organization every time!

    e. Ask your supporters to tell a friend.  They can obtain a sample “tell-a-friend letter” from the
Freelanthropy website, www.freelanthropy.com.  Have them send it to all of their contacts.

You are more apt to get the message through to more people when the e-mail is sent from a “known” person.  It greatly reduces the amount of the letters getting tossed as junk mail, and you have the potential to obtain more qualified prospective supporters.

   f. Ask your supporters to set their home page to your website or to the Freelanthropy website.

This then serves as a constant reminder to always search through the Freelanthropy portal from the moment they turn on their computers.  It also trains them into the habit of searching and supporting their favorite cause on a daily basis.

News and Media Coverage

For your organizations newsletter, write an article about the Freelanthropy partnership with your organization and be sure to include an explanation about how it all works.  See a sample newsletter article with copy for a guide on what to include.

Try and get some local or national media coverage each time you get a donation check from Freelanthropy.  Include in your coverage how much your supporters raised and what the revenue helped pay for ( i.e. 10 new wheelchairs, an operation for an impoverished child, a scholarship fund, or care costs for an animal shelter).  Human interest stories are always of interest to the public and it connects your organization with doing good deeds for those in need.  See a sample news article for a local paper.

For a blog page, add information about your organization and it’s partnership with Freelanthropy including search boxes and banners, etc. similar to the way in which you added these to your website.

Promotional Ideas:

To increase your supporter base many organizations have tried promotional tactics.  Offering a gift certificate donated by a local store can often entice people to try out your fundraising system.

People in general enjoy feeling they are getting something out of the deal and will often try something in hopes of winning a prize.

Gearing your prize to your target audience is beneficial.  Here are some ideas to help you get started.

* Offer a chance to win a gift certificate (donated by a local or national merchant) to raise money for a scholarship fund for anyone who pledges to try your new fundraising system.
* Find a corporation to match the amount raised during a certain month or quarter.
* Students love competition and challenges.  For schools, offer a chance to win a prize for the class who raises the most money in a given time.

The possibilities are endless and the rewards great when you set your mind to creating an interesting promotion.   Share your ideas and successful promotions with fellow nonprofits.  You'll make friends, perhaps gain more supporters for your organization, and feel great!

"Springfield Girl Scouts supports local Animal Shelter just by searching the Internet."

By John Doe

Working with Freelanthropy.com, the local Girl Scout Troop initiated a challenge and recruited several troops to raise money for the Town Animal Shelter.

The Girl Scouts found an innovative company called Freelanthropy.com on the Internet to help them raise money for shelter for free.  The Girl Scout Troop rallied together with other local troops and raised $X,XXX.00 just by searching the Internet using Yahoo! search empowered by Freelanthropy.com.  Their donated money helped pay for the neutering and spaying of 50 dogs and cats and it also provided much needed vaccinations for several pets whose owners could not afford the cost.  The Animal Shelter has also partnered with Freelanthropy and is on their way to saving more animals within our community.  Thank you Girl Scouts for doing good in serving our community.

You can make a difference in our world, too, when you go to www.freelanthropy.com.  Just go to www.freelanthropy.com, choose a charity or nonprofit from their charity finder(over 1.3 million) and then conduct your searches.  Money will be generated for your selected charity every time you search.  You can track the amount you helped raise and feel great about helping a worthy cause every time you search the Internet using Yahoo! and Freelanthropy.com.
